This is the second session for the new academic year in the ILUNO program for Service Learning. In each session, there are various speakers and projects that students participate in each quarter. Some are the same, while others are not. This session, the students had the privilege to work at "Together" a local chapter who helps the homeless and those who are in need of household materials, to include food deprivation as well as welcomed speakers from big Brothers Big Sisters of Omaha and the Anti-defamation League.
There are links for the speakers above and below are some pictures that illustrate their humanity efforts.

During the service at the Foodbank for the Heartland, students work together as a team to bag as many lunches for children who often go home after a week in school, to very minimal food, if any. The Back-pack Lunch Program, provided solely by the http://www.woodhouse.com and provides over 8800 students per month in the Heartland. Our students, roughly, bag over 800 bags in a short hour and a half that they are there. Every eight weeks, our students increase the amount by about 80 - 100 bags. It is a time when students really learn to work together, and collaborate on different positions.
The Open Door Mission is another place where students are able to help with the local community. It is usually loading and / or offloading items from donors who come to the warehouse, or it is sorting items from the large cardboard boxes from the warehouse. During the downtimes, it can be as simple as housecleaning and handing out a few items to the residents.
"TOGETHER" is similar to the Open Door Mission in the sense that they provide food and clothing, as well as other household items. They do not provide housing or any forms of shelter. They provide monetary assistance, but on a smaller scale as of that of a bank.
This non-profit organization is fairly new to the Omaha community but has great possibilities since they also have a co-op garden that provides fresh vegetables to the local residences, should they need it.
Here the students, organized the warehouse and the food pantry so that people who come in for donations have an easier time finding it.
