WELCOME TO OUR PAGE!!! We are a crew of motivated and enthusiastic bunch from the International Studies Program. This Service Learning Class is one of its kind in the ILUNO program. We believe in making a change in our community, so we devote our time servicing others while we learn from our capabilities. We work to learn about the challenges we face in order to overcome them.

July 15, 2014 The Open Door Mission
The Open Door Mission was the first trip we took this session. Students were separated into groups: sorting clothes and hanging them on respective areas, sorting incoming donations in the warehouse, and unboxing items in another part of the community center. The students worked together in order to complete the tasks before them. They also toured the eating facility where the the head chef said he makes about 2,500 meals a day. They provide meals for not only the homeless, but to those who also suffer from food insecurities. The Open Door Mission extends help to anyone who is in need of it.

The students went on a tour with Sarah Lopez, Director of Development, who explains the organization's mission, purpose, and goals. The students were able to view ongoing projects like the Waite houses (as shown below)., The Blitz project (completed in June), and other resources of the organization. Each tour is tailored to our students to help them understand the needs of the local community in terms of housing.
